Document the moments you always

wished could be captured.

No posing. Be silly. Be sweet. Be you.

You Want Photographs That Actually Feel Like Your Family

You want more than a photograph where everyone is looking at the camera and smiling.

You want to remember the way your child reaches for you. The wild energy, familiar routines, giggles, quiet affection, and expressions that are completely their own.

You want photographs filled with personality and connection—not a version of your family created for the camera.

You want those memories: displayed on your walls, preserved in an album, and woven into the home where your family’s story continues to unfold.

Not downloaded once, shared online, and forgotten on a hard drive.

Maybe someone in your family hates having photographs taken.

Maybe your home does not feel finished enough, clean enough, or beautiful enough.

Maybe you have invested in professional photography before, received hundreds of digital files, and still have not printed a single one.

You do not want to spend your session managing everyone and hoping they behave.

You want meaningful photographs while your family gets to relax and be themselves.

That is where documentary family photography with a full-service artwork experience is different. I’m your photographer and wall interior designer in one.

You Want Beautiful Candid Family Photographs—but You Don’t Want a Stressful Photo Session

You cherish the relationships, personalities, and everyday moments that make your family yours.

But the idea of organizing outfits, convincing your partner, keeping the children clean, and asking everyone to smile on command may feel exhausting.

Maybe you are worried your children will not sit still.

Let’s Ditch the Pressure to Perform and Make Photographs About Who Your Family Really is. Connection not Perfection.

I believe family photography should preserve your relationships—not interrupt them. It should be real time spent together, not a performance for the camera.

And the photographs should live on your walls and in albums, not on your computer.

You’re Here Because You Want More Than a Perfect Family Portrait—you Want Your Family’s Story

You want photographs that feel joyful, honest, personal, and unmistakably you—without the pressure of posing or performing.

You also want to know that something meaningful will actually be done with them.

As your North County San Diego family photographer, I document the real story of your family and turn the photographs you love into custom wall art, photo boxes, and albums made to last for generations. You don’t have to figure out what to do with your images. I take care of it all for you.

Thoughtful session planning

We begin with an in-person consultation about your family the parts of this season you most want to remember.

A relaxed documentary session

Sessions start at 90-minutes because it takes at least that long to tell your story. You spend time together at home, on an outing, or doing something meaningful to your family. I photograph the real moments rather than directing everyone through a list of poses.

Time for everyone to become comfortable

Sessions are not rushed. Your family has time to stop thinking about the camera so personalities, affection, humor, and connection can emerge naturally.

A guided artwork consultation

After your session, you will see your photographs and choose the ones that matter most.

I guide you through every decision, design your wall art for your walls to scale or design a custom fine art archival album.

Artwork made for your home

I help you create wall art, albums, and fine-art prints that fit your photographs, your space to scale (using computer software).

The result is artwork you see every day—installed for you on your walls, not another digital gallery you intend to deal with someday.

I began photographing weddings in 2005 and transitioned to families a few years later, drawn to the honest, unscripted moments that reveal who people truly are. Prior to that, I was a public-school art teacher for several years. This understanding of color, composition, and art greatly informs my work. It also taught me how to interact with kids of all ages.

Today, I photograph the laughter, chaos, tenderness, and connection that make your family yours. I also help you turn the images you love into custom wall art and albums, so your photographs become part of your home instead of remaining unseen on a hard drive.

My work has been recognized by international documentary family photography organizations, including being named one of the Top 10 Family Photographers Worldwide and the #1 photographer in the United States by Inspiration Family Photographers in 2025.

“This is our second time working with Michelle… She captures the small, meaningful moments that often pass by unnoticed, allowing us to be completely immersed in the experience. Our kids especially shine with this approach because it gives them the freedom to play, explore, and express themselves in a way that feels completely authentic.”
